Oriental College Kohima formally inaugurated the 6th Men’s Open Basketball Tournament (MOBT) on September 29, marking the beginning of a spirited competition aimed at promoting sportsmanship and youth engagement.
The inaugural session was graced by Class 1 contractor, Nunese Sale, CEO of Nune’s Construction, chairperson of DCCTI, president of Vision Trinity Club, and Chief Event Manager of Kekhrie Krotho. Declaring the tournament open, Sale encouraged participants to foster new bonds of friendship and embrace healthy competition. He urged players to give their best and maintain high sporting spirit beyond the tournament, emphasising the role of sports in building a better Nagaland.
The programme was chaired by assistant professor, Department of Commerce, Setuolie Theiinuo. Kezhaneinuo, B.Com III Semester, led the invocation, and a special musical performance was presented by assistant professor, Department of Tenyidie, Dziizienuo Yhome.
Principal of OCK, Dr. Watinaro Longkumer, delivered the keynote address, highlighting the transformative power of sports in helping individuals overcome challenges such as depression and addiction. She noted that such events provide a platform for youth to showcase their talents and pursue excellence in various sporting disciplines.
