7th State Games for disabled held in Dmu

DIMAPUR, OCT 2 (NPN)

The 7th State Games for the Disabled was conducted on September 30 at the Aoyimti Futsal Court, Dimapur. The event was jointly organized by Aoyimti Baptist Arogo, Dimapur, and Special Olympics Nagaland (SON), and saw the participation of 170 attendees.
Speaking at the programme, SON chief coach, Among highlighted the achievements of Nagaland’s special athletes, who have secured over 140 medals at national and international levels.
He emphasized the growing need for recognition and financial support from the State Government, especially for deserving athletes who continue to excel despite facing various challenges.
Aren, SON Area Director, expressed concern that post-pandemic, the National Office (SOB, Delhi) discontinued travel reimbursements for National events and support for District and State Games, which has severely affected participation opportunities for athletes and coaches at the national level. Despite many challenges, SON coaches and members continue to render selfless service towards our special athletes without any fees or salary since inception till date.
The sports competitions were supervised by president, SON Dimapur District, Renjamo Y. Ngullie. Master Trainers Achum Ovung, Jangtsumen Tzudir, and Imlitwati Lemtur led a team of 18 SON coaches in guiding 93 special athletes, including visually impaired and hearing-impaired participants. Events included athletics (race, relay, jumps, and shot-put), bocce, and football.
