DIMAPUR

A Hotel Management Programme, initiated under the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) of Honda India Foundation and implemented by Visan Foundation, was formally inaugurated at Agape Higher Secondary School Auditorium, Kiphire.
Organised in collaboration with Nagaland State Rural Livelihoods Mission (NSRLM) and hosted by Akehda Amulung, the programme aims to equip youth with employable skills in the hospitality sector.
Theose Thongtsar, Additional Mission Director, NSRLM, graced the occasion as special guest, while Irothe T Sangtam, secretary of Akehda Amulung, chaired the event. In his welcome address, Khumpile H, Board Director of Akehda Amulung, termed the launch a landmark initiative and thanked all stakeholders including Honda India Foundation, Visan Foundation, NSRLM, and Menuoneituo Chadi, COO (Skill), NSRLM, for their support.
Adrian, trainer from Visan Foundation, introduced the two-month course under the Food & Beverage Service Department, which includes government certification, on-the-job training, 100% job placement assurance, and post-placement support such as food, accommodation, and medical care.
Addressing the gathering, Thongtsar emphasized the importance of skill development, noting that “skilling has become the fine line between employment and unemployment.” He cited success stories of past trainees, including two youths from Nagaland who secured jobs in Japan, earning over Rs. 1 lakh per month.
He encouraged trainees to remain committed and reminded them that such opportunities are rare in the district. “This training can be the beginning of your journey towards independence,” he said.
The programme also acknowledged USSC for providing the training venue and Smokypots Naga Cuisine for offering internship support. The event concluded with closing remarks by Longtili C Sangtam, Founder of Akehda Amulung, who reaffirmed the organisation’s commitment to youth empowerment.
