SBCK youth department hosts penalty shootout to mark 100-year jubilee

DIMAPUR, OCT 3 (NPN)

As part of its 100-year jubilee celebration, the Youth Department of Sumi Baptist Church Kohima (SBCK) organized a Centenary Penalty Shootout event at D Khel Ground, Kohima Village on October 2. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from 35 teams representing Nagaland Christian Revival Church Sumi Kohima, Aphuyemi Baptist Church Kohima, and Sumi Baptist Church Kohima.
Centenary Planning Chairman, Y. Kikheto Sema, graced the occasion as the guest speaker. In his address, Sema commended the Youth Department for fostering unity among Sumi Church associations through sports. He emphasized the vital role of youth as pillars of the church and bearers of future hope.
Drawing from 1 Corinthians 9:24–25, Sema underscored the values of discipline and focus in both sports and Christian life. He encouraged participants to pursue their goals with purpose and self-control, reminding them that while athletes compete for temporary rewards, Christians strive for an eternal prize. He also extended centenary jubilee greetings and blessings to the gathering.
The Sumi Aphuyemi Baptist Church Kohima Youth Department clinched the championship title, earning a cash prize of Rs. 50,000. The Old Boys Club secured the first runner-up position with Rs. 30,000, while Wax Club took second runner-up with Rs. 15,000. Toluto Shohe was honored with the Golden Glove award for outstanding goalkeeping.
The programme began with an invocation prayer by Associate Pastor Fellowship, Kughavi Chisho and was chaired by Youth Standing Member, Alobo Kits. Pastor of SBCK, Khekavi K. Yeptho, offered blessings before the shootout commenced. Convenor, Hitono Shohe, delivered the vote of thanks, and the event concluded with a benediction prayer by Associate Pastor Youth, Akuto Achumi, bringing the celebration to a spiritually uplifting close.
