Department of Art & Culture, Nagaland, organised a one-day painting workshop and competition on the theme “Seva Parv – Vision of Viksit Bharat” on September 30 at the State Academy of Music & Dance, Kohima.
Renowned artist and 2012 Governor’s Award recipient, Vilalhou Noudi, graced the occasion as special guest. In his address, Noudi highlighted the power of imagination and creativity, stating that mankind was gifted with the ability to create beauty from nothing.
Introductory remarks were delivered by assistant Archivist Temjenjungla Aier, while director of Art & Culture, Adela Moa, announced the winners and distributed prizes.
Jongpen Pongen of Jo Foundation Inclusive School secured first position and received a cash prize of Rs.10,000. Bautuk S. Phom of Ministers’ Hill Baptist Higher Secondary School and Yohulu Medeo of Fernwood School were declared second and third. They received a cash prize of Rs. 5000 and Rs. 2500 respectively. Consolation prizes of Rs. 1000 each were awarded to Wangoi Büchem (Stella Higher Secondary School), Sangke Mansha (Mezhür Higher Secondary School), and Medole (Fernwood School). Altogether, 87 students from nine schools participated in the programme, which aimed to promote artistic expression and national vision through creative engagement.
