Assam Rifles carried out a series of community-centric initiatives across Nagaland, reaffirming its commitment to public welfare, health awareness, cultural engagement, and environmental sustainability.
In Avangkhu village, the force celebrated the Yemshe festival with local residents, fostering goodwill and camaraderie. The event saw participation from 68 individuals, including villagers and Assam Rifles personnel. Sports items were gifted to the youth, promoting unity and sportsmanship. Village council members and Gaon Buras (GBs) expressed gratitude for the continued cordial relations between the security forces and the community.
In Kiphire district, a Cancer Awareness Outreach Programme was organised at Government School, Phelungre village. The session educated students on cancer prevention, early detection, and healthy lifestyle practices. Assam Rifles personnel conducted an informative lecture followed by an interactive discussion, encouraging students to adopt positive health habits and seek timely medical care.
As part of the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, Assam Rifles conducted a Swachhta Abhiyan across six locations in Phek and Meluri districts—Phek, Meluri, Akhen, New Thewati, Ziphu, and Avangkhu. A total of 157 personnel and 70 locals participated in the cleanliness drive, promoting hygiene and environmental responsibility while strengthening community bonds.
On Gandhi Jayanti, a mass cleanliness drive was held in Kohima from Phulbari to Razhu Point under the theme “Ek Din, Ek Ghanta, Ek Saath.” The event witnessed active participation from civil society organisations, government departments, students, and volunteers. Agencies such as D Block Youth Organization, Zub Zub NGO, NCC cadets, and students from Chandmari High School and Mount Olive College joined the effort, paying tribute to Mahatma Gandhi’s vision of a clean India.
In Noklak district, Assam Rifles organised a medical camp at Choklangan village on September 29. The camp provided free consultations, medicines, and health awareness sessions to over 150 villagers, including men, women, and children. Special focus was given to women’s wellness and children’s health, with emphasis on hygiene, nutrition, and preventive care. Through these initiatives, Assam Rifles continues to uphold its motto “Friends of the North East, Sentinels of the North East,” promoting peace, health, and harmony across communities in Nagaland.
