Chedema Village Youth Organisation (CVYO) continued their impressive run in the 25th NSF Martyrs’ Memorial Trophy 2025 by defeating Tangkhul Katamnao Saklong (TKS) 2–1 in the first quarter-final match played at the Indira Gandhi Stadium, Kohima, on Friday.
In a closely contested encounter, CVYO took an early lead through Robinson (99) in the 11th minute, followed by a second goal from T. Zimik (19) in the 28th minute. TKS managed to pull one back when Rungsing Muinao (9) found the net in the 34th minute, but CVYO’s disciplined defence held firm to secure their place in the semi-finals.
Benjamin (14) of CVYO was named Player of the Match for his commanding performance and was presented the award by Vizokho Zashümo, member of the Tribunal of the Angami Students’ Union and former president of the Union.
The match was graced by Deputy Commissioner of Kohima, B. Henok Buchem, who served as the match patron.
With this victory, CVYO advanced to the semi-finals, extending their dominant campaign in the tournament. Prior to the quarter-finals, the team had notched emphatic wins against Amigos FC Tesophenyu (7–0), Kidima Farmers United (2–0), United Brothers FC (7–1), and Rever Gantok SC (4–0). Including their quarter-final triumph, CVYO have now scored 22 goals and conceded only 2 across five matches — a record that underscores both their attacking depth and defensive organisation.
Tangkhul Katamnao Saklong, former champions of the NSF Trophy, began their campaign from the pre-quarterfinal stage with a confident 3–1 win over Mez & Co. However, despite their strong start, they were unable to match the precision and momentum of the Chedema side in the quarter-final clash.
