The 2nd edition of the Combined Annual Training Camp (CATC) organised by 24 Nagaland Battalion NCC, Kohima, is currently underway at the Assam Rifles Complex, Wokha. The 10-day camp, which commenced on October 4 and will conclude on October 13, is being attended by 400 cadets from Senior Division, Senior Wing, Junior Division, and Junior Wing.
According to a press release issued by the PRO and spokesperson, Ministry of Defence, Manipur, Nagaland, and Southern Arunachal Pradesh, the camp aims to impart collective training, discipline, and shared responsibility while enhancing cadets’ knowledge and skills in military subjects such as weapon training, firing, drill, health and hygiene. The training is designed to prepare cadets for their upcoming A, B, and C Certificate Examinations.
On October 7, Colonel Shenjamo Ngullie, Officiating Group Commander of Kohima Group, visited the camp and was briefed on the training activities, competitions, and administrative arrangements including hygiene standards and nutritious meals. He appreciated the overall coordination and emphasized the importance of holistic development and fostering a healthy competitive spirit among cadets.
Addressing the cadets, Col. Ngullie encouraged them to gain maximum knowledge from the lectures and activities, and prepare diligently for their certification exams. Officers from the Army Recruiting Office, Rangapahar, also briefed cadets on career opportunities in the Indian Armed Forces.
The camp includes a series of lectures and demonstrations aligned with the NCC syllabus and manuals. Office of the Deputy Commissioner Wokha, Superintendent of Police Wokha, HQ Inspector General Assam Rifles (North), Kohima, and various NCC-affiliated schools and colleges are extending support to ensure the success of the training programme.
