The 3rd edition of the Mokokchung District Inter-Departmental Sports Meet kicked off on October 11 at the Multi-Purpose Sports Stadium, Imkongmeren Sports Complex. The three-day sporting event will witness competitions across multiple sports disciplines, bringing together government employees from various departments under one sporting platform.
The inaugural programme was graced by the Deputy Commissioner, Mokokchung, Ajit Kumar Verma, who attended as the special guest. In his welcome address, the Deputy Commissioner emphasized the importance of such events in fostering unity and coordination among government departments.
“Events like these not only bring together employees from diverse departments but also help build team spirit and camaraderie,” said Verma. “It also plays a vital role in promoting a healthy work-life balance and encourages maintaining both physical and mental well-being.”
He also extended his appreciation to the organising committee for their efforts in successfully planning and executing the event.
A song presentation by students of Jubilee Memorial College was one of the highlights of the opening ceremony. The Oath of Sportsmanship was administered by district sports officer, Mokokchung, Zhopovi Zecho.
