Excise personnel seize 500 casesof IMFL at Khuzama check gate

DIMAPUR

Excise personnel manning the Khuzama inter-state check gate seized 500 cases of assorted Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) during a routine vehicle inspection early Thursday morning. The seizure occurred at approximately 7:26 AM.
According to Deputy Commissioner of Excise (Zonal), Kohima, Venezolu Dawhuo, the duty party intercepted a truck bearing registration number NI-01AK-1796 and, upon thorough inspection, discovered the liquor cases concealed beneath bags of essential commodities.
The driver of the vehicle, identified as Rashidul Islam (20), son of Md. Siddique and a resident of Goalpara district, Assam, was apprehended for violating the Nagaland Liquor Total Prohibition (NLTP) Act. A case has been registered under the relevant sections of the NLTP Act, 1989.
Preliminary investigation suggests that the consignment was allegedly loaded from Dimapur and was en-route to Imphal. Further inquiry is underway.
