PDNCSU calls for transparency and district representation

DIMAPUR

Phek District Nagaland Contractors and Suppliers Union (PDNCSU) held its coordination meeting on Wednesday at Hotel Ura, Officers Hill Colony, Kohima, to deliberate on key issues affecting contractors and suppliers from the district.
Addressing the gathering, Legal Advisor of Nagaland Contractors and Suppliers Union (NCSU), Dr. Povotso Lohe, urged the Chakhesang community to embrace the diversity of dialects and avoid disputes over linguistic differences. He emphasized the importance of timely completion of works, quality execution, adherence to contractual terms, and the engagement of local workforce. Lohe also called for transparency, accountability, and amicable resolution of disputes.
Vice president of NCSU, N. Neilo Koza, informed that the union has nearly 6,000 members, including around 2,200 Class-1 contractors. He encouraged PDNCSU members to match the standards of their counterparts and to rise above political affiliations for the collective welfare of the community.
Advisor of PDNCSU, Raruveyi Swuro, stressed the need for active participation and better coordination with community leaders, legislators, and officials, reiterating that PDNCSU is a non-partisan body.
Delivering the presidential address, Kuzhosheyi Alex Soho stated that NCSU remains the only intact body with representation from all 17 districts of Nagaland. He expressed concern over the lack of district-level execution of contract and supply works, which are often awarded to contractors from other districts despite the presence of eligible members in Phek. Soho also highlighted poor workmanship in the construction of the two-lane road under Phek district and warned that PDNCSU may be compelled to take further action if issues persist.
He further pointed out that the Chakhesang Public Organisation (CPO) and the two-lane committee were constituted without PDNCSU representation, and called for inclusion in such bodies. Soho appealed for unity and cooperation among members and stakeholders.
NCSU secretary, Tseibou Khusoh, commended PDNCSU for organising the meeting and expressed hope that it would benefit the district. He raised concerns over departments awarding contracts without open tenders and urged collective efforts to address malpractice and uphold justice. The programme was chaired by PDNCSU Women Coordinator, Esther Rhakho. Invocation by pastor MĂĽdohĂĽ Kezo of Chakhesang Christian Revival Church, Upper PWD, Kohima, and benediction by PDNCSU Treasurer, VevolhĂĽ Swuro.
