Off late, the issue of inducting a non-SCS into IAS is widely circulated and discussed across Nagaland. It is also disheartening and surprising to see the immature and illogical stand of the government of Nagaland even after the JCC showing their displeasure over non revocation of the non-NPSC candidate recommended for IAS.
Apparently, Corruption, Nepotism and all forms of ism is deeply etched in Nagaland but amending rules by the Cabinet of Nagaland Government to suit a particular person/group and challenge the integrity of merit is never dreamed of. It is now evident that the elected government of Nagaland could stoop to the lowest point and bootlick to satisfy stooges. The Indian Administrative Service wether through UPSC or conferred through the state cader is supposed to be the highest platform of competition for the glorious job. However, the Nagaland government attitude displays otherwise. The Nagaland government approach undermine the toughest competition of our Nation and act on their whims to pick and choose from among their alikes even for the highest competitive post.
Inevitably, there was instances of inducting or conferring non-SCS/NPSC into IAS in the past. But the government should come to the realisation that gone are the days when mere high school dropouts were called for state services. Gone are the days when educated people were scanty in Nagaland and merit based selection was inapt. In an era of Ai, Nagaland government is still stuck in century old tactics of patronising officers appointed through backdoor and nepotism. Government should acknowledge that no amount of power or authority should demean the integrity of merit and devoid meritorious candidates of their rights.
JCC’s stand is legit, their only call is induction based on merit. Merit should be supreme in every walks of life, lets support on what is right. Ironically, it is discouraging to see the complacency of the Naga people and not a single sympathy call from any corner. Nagaland supposedly known as the land of ‘Unions & Organisations’ with motto for ‘Welfare of the people’ now silently sleeps in deep slumber.
Civils societies, Students’ bodies and various welfare organisations of Nagaland need to contemplate on this crisis and voice out beyond Tribalism and Nepotism for better Nagaland. People of Nagaland should be well equipped with any repulsive and nasty eventualities arising out of it for better Nagaland. Today’s support is Tommorow’s strength. Whoever the government is favoring for and how influential and powerful a person may be, Rule of the law and Merit should reign in modern Nagaland and Law of the government should not be adverse to its people. Government should shun ‘khushi khushi’ attitude. Times have changed, people are awake. Arrogance begats destruction. Long live The JCC. GOD BLESS MY NAGALAND
