Nagaland joins Sardar@150 celebrations with Unity March and competitions

Dimapur

Nagaland has joined the nationwide Sardar@150 celebrations commemorating the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, with a series of activities planned across the state.
Addressing the gathering in Kohima on October 23, advisor of Youth Resources & Sports S. Keoshu Yimkhiung said the celebrations would include Unity March and other events organised through District Administrations, National Service Scheme (NSS), and Mybharat. Keoshu described Sardar Patel as a visionary statesman and architect of national integration, who played a pivotal role in unifying over 560 princely states post-independence.
He said the celebrations aim to honour Patel’s legacy and reinforce the values of unity, patriotism and public service.
The Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Government of India, is spearheading the Sardar@150 campaign across the country, with padyatras and awareness programmes targeting youth participation.
Keoshu informed that Nagaland is also hosting national-level competitions such as essay writing, quiz, reel contests and podcasts through the Mybharat portal, providing a platform for youth to express patriotic messages and promote unity.
Keoshu Yimkhiung added that the initiatives reflect Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a Viksit and Atmanirbhar Bharat, transforming the occasion into a participatory movement rooted in nation-building.
