Nagaland more condemn brutal murder of 22-yr-old woman in Kohima

DIMAPUR, OCT 27 (NPN)

More organisations have strongly condemned the cold-blooded murder of a 22-year-old woman, whose body was found near her residence at Old Ministers Hill, Kohima on October 25, 2025.
NSCW: Nagaland State Commission for Women (NSCW) strongly condemned the “inhuman and brutal murder”, which it said has shocked the conscience of society.
In a statement, NSCW chairperson W. Nginyeih Konyak said that such a heinous act was not only a grave crime but an affront to humanity and the sanctity of life. The commission said it has taken suo-motu cognizance of the case and was closely monitoring all developments.
NSCW has appealed to the law enforcement agencies to expedite the investigation and ensure that the perpetrator(s) were brought to justice without delay. The commission said that no stone would be left unturned until justice was delivered to the victim and her bereaved family.
NSCW has also urged the colony residents and the general public to extend all necessary support to the investigating authorities to ensure a fair, transparent, and swift process of justice.
Asserting that such acts of barbarity had no place in a civilized society, the commission affirmed solidarity with the victim’s family and assured them of every possible support in their pursuit of justice.
NBA: Nagaland Basketball Association (NBA) has expressed deep shock and outrage over the “brutal and senseless murder” of 22-year-old woman.
In a condemnation note, NBA president Zhaleo Rio and honorary secretary Sentiningsang Longkumer said that she was a rising star of Nagaland women’s basketball and a proud representative of the state at the U23 National Basketball Championship held in Guwahati earlier this year.
Describing her as more than an athlete, NBA said she was a symbol of hope, discipline, and determination for countless young sportspersons across Nagaland.
“Her life, full of promise and potential, has been cut short by an act of unimaginable violence,” NBA said, adding it was not only a personal tragedy for her family and teammates but a devastating loss for the entire sporting community.
Strongly condemning “this heinous act”, NBA has called upon the law enforcement authorities and state leadership to leave no stone unturned in identifying and apprehending the perpetrator(s).
NBA also urged the government to ensure that justice was swift and uncompromising.
Mourning the loss of one of its brightest talents, NBA reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding the dignity and safety of every athlete in Nagaland.
SAWO: Southern Angami Women Organization (SAWO) has strongly condemned of the murder and said that “such an evil act” committed by the perpetrator was “beyond the capacity of human’s imagination and tolerance.”
In a condemnation note, SAWO president Visetole Sophie and general secretary Kikrukhonuo Pfukha said the brutal murder of an innocent life was morally reprehensible act that violated fundamental principles of human dignity, compassion and respect, adding it was also an attack on the peace and security of women folk.
SAWO said the incident underscored the urgent need for justice. The organisation the act should be met with the strongest disapproval and immediate action.
Further, SAWO urged the law enforcing authority and the district administration to investigate into the matter by leaving no stone unturned and punish those responsible in accordance to law.
The organization also expressed solidarity with the victim family and assured its full support.

JWS: Jakhama Women Society (JWS) also vehemently condemned the “dastardly and cowardly murder” of an up-coming bright daughter of the community.
In a condemnation note, JWS chairperson Nokehiele Khatso and general secretary Zakoprale Richa described the victim as “a gem of a child/person to the family and to our society.”
The society said that the heinous crime perpetrated on a meek young girl with a promising future has shocked and shattered all to the core.
JWS said it was a crime beyond a normal set of mind that demanded immediate remedy through the arrest of the perpetrator(s).
Therefore, the society has appealed to the law enforcing authorities to expedite the investigation with utmost urgency so as to bring about tranquillity and deliver justice.

Porütso Khel: Porütso Khel, Jakhama and its youth expressed shock and outrage over the murder, saying they strongly condemned “this heinous and cowardly act in the strongest possible terms.”
Porütso Khel chairman Vizade Zao demanded justice and declared that it would not remain silent until those responsible were apprehended and brought to justice in accordance with the law.

WAYO: Strongly condemning the incident, Western Angami Youth Organisation (WAYO) said “such acts of cold blooded murder” against innocent individuals were a grave violation of human rights and an affront to the values of humanity, justice and peace.
WAYO through its president Pelesavi Rürhie and general secretary Dr. Rü-ünguso Kuotsu urged the law enforcing agencies to act swiftly and ensure that the perpetrators were identified and brought to justice at the earliest.
The organisation affirmed solidarity with the victim’s family and reiterated its commitment to promoting safety, dignity, and justice to all.
WAYO also expressed sorrow and outrage over this heinous crime and extended condolences to the bereaved family.

SASU: Southern Angami Students’ Union (SASU) expressed shock and outrage over the incident and said that the brutality and cruelty exhibited in this crime were unacceptable and warranted the harshest condemnation.
SASU through its president Kehozhol Noel Kulnu and general secretary Neibiseto Thapru urged the state government and law enforcement authorities to conduct a thorough and transparent investigation into the incident, apprehend the perpetuator(s) and ensure those responsible faced the full force of law. SASU also called upon the government to provide support to the family of the deceased.
Further, the union appealed to the general public and civil society organizations to join hands in demanding justice for the victim.
SASU affirmed solidarity with the family and friends of the victim and assured them of its unwavering support during this dark hour.
SASU declared that it would not rest until justice was served, and perpetrator(s) punished.

KDBA: Kohima District Basketball Association (KDBA) through its president Khrielasakuo Keretsü and general secretary Thejanguzo Titus expressed deep shock and over the murder of its member on October 25, 2025.
KDBA described the victim as a dedicated, disciplined, and hardworking player—a true team member who consistently gave her best while representing the district.
Vehemently condemning the brutal and lawless act, KDBA urged the responsible authorities to expedite investigation, ensure the perpetrators face the full force of the law, and secure justice for the victim’s family.
The association also called upon the state government and law enforcement agencies to take swift measures to prevent such tragedies in the future.
Further, KDBA appealed to the public, civil society organizations, and all citizens to unite against such injustice and social disorder.
The association extended condolences to the bereaved family and pledged its full support during this time of profound grief and loss.

KYO: Kigwema Youth Organization (KYO) through its president Neiphrezo Thorie and general secretary Asalie Yhoshü condemned the cold-blooded murder and said that the “brutal taking of human life” was a morally reprehensible act that violated fundamental principles of human dignity, compassion and respect.
KYO urged the law enforcement agencies for through investigation and ensure justice was served to the victim’s family. It also demanded that those responsible be held accountable for their crimes.
The organization affirmed its unwavering solidarity with the family members. It also offered condolences to the family during this dark hour.

OMHYO: Old Ministers’ Hill Youth Organization (OMHYO) expressed shock and outrage over the incident that occurred within the colony.
The organization through its president Kevisa Khamo and treasurer Langkhu strongly condemned the heinous and inhuman act, which claimed the life of a young and innocent girl.
OMHYO said such incident was deeply disturbing and reflected a grave concern over the increasing occurrence of violent crimes within the society.
The youth body appealed to the police and the investigating authorities to conduct a thorough and impartial investigation and ensure that the perpetrators were swiftly brought to justice.
OMHYO affirmed solidarity with the bereaved family and extended condolences. The organisation assured the family of its complete support in their pursuit of justice.
