The Nagaland Transparency Public Rights Advocacy and Direct Action Organization (NTPRADAO-People’s Justice) has criticized the recent remarks made by minister for PWD (Roads & Bridges) G. Kaito Aye, describing his appeal to the Joint Coordination Committee (JCC) on IAS induction to reconsider its pen-down strike as “illogical and unilateral.”
In a statement, NTPRADAO (PJ) president Mhabemo Lotha, secretary general S.Andrew, general secretaries- Kiholi Sumi and Thrijung Sangtam said the minister’s remarks had deeply hurt the moral sentiments and collective conscience of the Naga people, adding that his comments came at a time when citizens were “crying for justice for future generations.”
Questioning the minister’s observation that public offices should not be overshadowed by agitation, the organization countered that the government’s handling of the IAS induction issue reflected insensitivity toward the welfare and interest of government officials while allegedly favoring “backdoor” appointments even after weeks of protests.
It also commended the Central Nagaland Tribes Council (CNTC) and the Dimapur Naga Students’ Union (DNSU) for openly supporting the JCC’s demands despite external pressures. The organization further appealed to civil society groups, intellectuals, writers, and citizens to heed their conscience and stand behind the JCC until a just and amicable resolution is achieved.
