Nagaland DC Kohima warns commercial vehicles operating without valid permits

DIMAPUR

Deputy Commissioner Kohima, B. Henok Buchem, has cautioned that all commercial vehicles operating within Kohima district must possess valid permits as required under the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988 and other applicable laws.
In an order, DC noted that many commercial vehicles were operating without valid permits, in violation of the law. All commercial vehicle owners and operators have been directed to renew their permits.
Enforcement agencies have been asked to conduct verification drives and take strict action against violators. The order takes immediate effect, a DIPR report stated.

Notice on indiscriminate parking in Kohima

DC Kohima has also issued a public notice expressing serious concern over the increasing number of off-road and unattended vehicles parked indiscriminately along National Highways and town roads in Kohima, stating that such parking causes public nuisance, traffic hazards and road safety risks.
All concerned vehicle owners have been directed to remove such vehicles within seven days from November 4, 2025. After the deadline, non-compliant vehicles will be confiscated, it added.
The order stated that seized vehicles will be towed to a designated yard at the owner’s expense and risk.
The district authorities will not be responsible for any damage, loss or theft during seizure, towing or storage.
A 30-day claims period will be notified for owners to reclaim vehicles after payment of towing charges and penalties.
Unclaimed vehicles after the claims period will be disposed through auction as “unclaimed property” as per law.
DC has urged the public to cooperate, warning that failure to comply will attract penal action.
