The imbroglio between ‘Merit’ of People centric JCC of Nagaland and ‘Backdoor’ centric elected government of Nagaland is revealing the humourous and grimy intend of the GoN and reflecting on the recent press statement by one of the Ministers of Nagaland, their call is nothing but baffling and malevolent to truth.
From the excerpts of the statement, the government is now stooping to the lowest point of intimidating the JCC for fighting tooth and nail for merit. It is also evident that elected government still continues and hold on to the conventions and systems of 1960s rather than evolve into today’s Ai world. For them ‘Backdoor Appointees’ are person of more integrity than meritorious candidates. But, how can someone with integrity opt for backdoor appointment in the gazetted officer category? That’s absolutely absurbed notion to make a law, and which school of thought preach backdoor appointees are meritorious than someone through competitive examinations? We are living in a digital and a world of advancement. So, someone without competitive spirit should not be placed for competition with meritorious candidates. It is also irony on the part of the government to justify that the Government can unceremoniously appoint any Tom, Dick & Harry and make an officer at their whims.
As per the revelation, the withdrawal of the March 10, 2025 advertisement was nothing but to suit a stooge and a heavily corrupted official acting on their whims. Though, the technicalities and SI of nominating IAS is an in-depth question and beyond my personal contemplation. However, the questionable act of the government is on what demerits did the government rejected those 6 other candidates (most of whom I believe to have got their jobs through competitive exams) and forwarded candidates with someone among them having a history of appointed through backdoor? Shame.
The minister concern should realise that in any government set up especially in a Democracy like ours, everyone is entitled to show dissent through various peaceful means. Especially in a state like ours, where government patronises corruption, nepotism and backdoor appointments, people are forced to take up violent means to resort to injustice. If the government can take measures to deepen a movement for Merits and justice, people should resort to various means to shun and strip naked the unjust government.
The government of the day should stop to exploit the chair that feed them and shun abusing the power for their personal gain. The fight the JCC is on is harsh and adverse to our unjust government and every people of Nagaland should cement their support and voice for them. The JCC should also not fall on the deceptual pledge of the elected politicians lest the people of Nagaland would go demoralised and Merit rest buried in the domb forever. Long live the JCC. GOD BLESS MY NAGALAND.
