Defending men’s champions Old Jalukie Sector-C and women’s team Heningkunglwa emerged victorious at the 4th Peren District Inter-Village Volleyball Tournament 2025, held from November 4 to 7 at the Government Higher Secondary School ground in Jalukie Town. The tournament was organised by the Peren District Volleyball Association (PDVA).
In the men’s final, Old Jalukie Sector-C retained their title by defeating Zeme Olympics reigning champions Peletkie A in straight sets — 25-19, 25-14, 24-32. Old Jalukie dominated the first two sets, while Peletkie A mounted a strong comeback in the third. However, Old Jalukie held firm to seal the match and the championship.
In the women’s final, Heningkunglwa secured the title with a commanding win over Nsong, finishing the match in straight sets — 25-13, 25-18, 25-11.
A total of 32 teams participated in the tournament, including 22 men’s teams and 12 women’s teams, competing for top honours.
Individual awards were presented to outstanding players:
- Men’s Best Spiker: Lungziucibe (Old Jalukie Sector-C)
- Men’s Best Setter: Kielamheibe (Old Jalukie Sector-C)
- Women’s Best Spiker: Isidaule (Heningkunglwa)
- Women’s Best Setter: Peheuyile (Heningkunglwa)
The closing ceremony was graced by Jalukie Town Council chairman Hadi Mpom as the special guest. In his address, Mpom encouraged players to set clear goals and strive for excellence, rather than participating merely for recreation. He commended the PDVA for providing a platform to showcase local talent and urged the association to extend such events to other towns to reach more aspiring athletes. He also advised players to abstain from intoxicants and substance abuse, noting its detrimental impact on athletic performance.
Prizes for the best spiker awards (men and women) were sponsored by GB of Old Jalukie Village, Samyibe Hiekha, while the best setter awards (men and women) were sponsored by PDVA technical member, Iteihangbe.
The closing programme featured a special melody by Kitoteile and Pauramyile, vote of thanks by PDVA vice president Kechidi, and benediction by JTLBC mission coordinator Kieteibeu. The ceremony was moderated by Kewisiwangliu Newmai, and concluded with the de-hoisting of the tournament flag.
