Nagaland NPF minority wing elects new office bearers

The Naga People’s Front (NPF) Minority Wing Central held the oath-taking ceremony for its newly elected central office bearers on November 8, 2025, at the NPF Division Office Complex, Dimapur.
A press release by vice president (admin), NPF minority wing, central, Roshan Tamang, stated that the oath was administered by Senior Working President (Central), Pusazo Lürüo, who in his address, lauded the activities and contributions of the minority wing and encouraged members to continue working with dedication and integrity.
The ceremony marked a significant milestone for the minority wing as the newly elected leaders pledged to uphold the values and principles of the NPF under the leadership of Bishnu Bhattacharjee, president, NPF minority wing central.
The newly elected team includes, working presidents: Apun Naben, Mahendra Thousen, and Mahesh Agarwal, member secretary: Manoj Bhattacharjee, general secretaries: Roshan BK, Prashad Pandey, Arun Kumar Mishra, and Keshab Momin, among other elected members.
Speaking on the occassion, vice president, central office bearer, Pushika Aomi emphasized the importance of inclusive political participation, stating that “non-Naga citizens of Dimapur should understand the value of participating in Nagaland’s political process and recognize that one seat—Dimapur I Assembly Constituency—out of the sixty assembly constituencies is an open seat for all.
Pushika Aomi said, “Non-Nagas can contest elections if they wish to contribute to politics and become part of the policymaking and intellectual body working to strengthen and develop Nagaland.”
S. K. Khemprai, General Secretary (COB), highlighted the need for unity and service-oriented leadership, stating that “minority leaders should work for the party, the government, and lastly for the community that elects Members of the Legislative Assembly to facilitate voters in Nagaland.”
He also stressed the importance of maintaining harmony and unity among all members to strengthen the party’s foundation.
Senior party leaders Vihoshe Awomi and Mahesh Agarwal, council member, DMC, also addressed the gathering, congratulating the newly elected team and commending the minority wing’s dedication and loyalty to the NPF—the oldest regional political party in Northeast India.
In his presidential address, Bishnu Bhattacharjee expressed confidence in the new office bearers, describing them as qualified, dedicated, and committed members who will work to strengthen the NPF and serve the people of Nagaland through development and welfare initiatives.
He thanked women wing, youth wing and Dimapur division president for their support in strengthening NPF minority wing in State Level to grass root level.
He also lauded the support of party president Dr. Neiphiu Rio, Chief Minister of Nagaland, and Secretary General Achumbemo Kikon, noting that “Dr. Rio has a special concern for minorities and constituted the minority wing to embrace all voters of Nagaland—be it majority or minority. Dr. Rio believes in unity and peace,” Bhattacharjee said in his speech.
The program was chaired by Apun Naben, working president, minority wing central, and began with an invocation prayer by Anand Gurung. A vote of thanks was delivered by Mahendra Thousen, working president, central.
The ceremony concluded with a message of unity, dedication, and commitment to advancing the NPF’s vision and strengthening its outreach across all communities at the grassroots level.
