Modern Higher Secondary School (MHSS), Kohima, celebrated its Literary-cum-Cultural Day at the school auditorium with a vibrant display of tradition, creativity, and talent. The event brought together students, alumni, and special guests in a celebration of local heritage and artistic expression.
The occasion was graced by renowned singer and songwriter Sentiein Kichu, who attended as the guest artiste. The event featured a series of competitions highlighting the richness of Naga culture and the creative spirit of the students.
Among the highlights was a spirited War Cry performance symbolizing strength and unity, followed by folk songs that reflected the community’s cultural vibrancy. Students also showcased their traditional cooking skills, preparing ethnic cuisines that emphasized the importance of preserving indigenous heritage.
The literary segment featured poetry recitations of original compositions by students, expressing wisdom, emotion, and cultural insight drawn from oral traditions. Other creative displays included art and photography, offering students an opportunity to express their imagination through visual media.
The event was further honoured by the presence of Arenchenla Walling, musician with Nagaland Folkloric under TAFMA, and Sorido, an independent gospel and conscious rap artiste, both alumni of the institution who attended as special invitees.
The programme was compered by Imran Ali and Jongrila Jingru. The celebration concluded with the distribution of citations and cash awards to winners of various competitions.
