Rural Agricultural Work Experience (RAWE) Programme for 32 B.Sc. (Agriculture) students from ICAR–Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI), Assam Campus was inaugurated on November 12 at the Conference Hall of ICAR–Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Dimapur.
The programme, part of the Institutional Attachment Module, was jointly organized by ICAR–KVK Dimapur, ICAR–Research Complex for NEH Region, Nagaland Centre, and ICAR–National Research Centre on Mithun (NRCM). RAWE aims to provide students with practical exposure to rural farming conditions, bridging classroom learning with field-level agricultural practices.
Following the inauguration, a training on “Package of Practices of Rabi Crops” and seed distribution under Front Line Demonstration (FLD) on Participatory Seed Production of Linseed was held at Sunito Village, Niuland district.
Dr. Bendangla Imsong, CTO (Plant Breeding), KVK Dimapur, and IARI student Yashraj Kumawat delivered expert lectures on scientific linseed cultivation, covering soil preparation, seed treatment, sowing techniques, nutrient and pest management, and harvesting. Emphasis was laid on adopting improved practices and technologies to enhance productivity.
As part of the FLD initiative, 125 kg of quality linseed seed was distributed to 32 participating farmers. The distribution was led by Dr. Bendangla Imsong and Dr. Moanaro, Programme Assistant, KVK Dimapur. Farmers expressed keen interest in the improved methods demonstrated during the session.
