The fifth edition of the Nagaland Fashion Week (NFW) 2025, organised by the Nagaland Designers’ Association (NDA), commenced on Thursday at Central Plaza, Kohima, under the theme “Ethno Mosaic.”
The event aims to provide a platform for local designers to showcase their creativity, connect with industry professionals, and represent the state’s unique artistry on national and international stages.
The inaugural day began with the launching of stalls by Chakhesang Baptist Church, Kohima, pastor Rev. Vikuo Rhi, who lauded the collective efforts of the NDA and participants in promoting local talent and encouraging self-reliance among Naga youth.
The opening show parade featured Mesho K. Jimo, Face of NFW 2023, and presented captivating collections from several designers, including Echoes of the Ancestors by Pavini Kiho, Echoes of Elegance by Kekhrielhoutuonuo Rutsa, The Art of Mongolian by Runoni Tep, World Within One by NR Studio Team 1, Ethnic Blooms by The LA MISKA, and Inherited Grace by IWSN School of Design.
Adding a musical touch to the evening, Jewel Reneh Sasü performed “Please Don’t Go”, captivating the audience with her rendition.
Judging the event were Mary Puro Lorin, senior lecturer, Department of Fashion Technology, Government Polytechnic Kohima; Hoyili Wokhami, former Senior Retail Supervisor, Landmark Dubai; and Kavili Kiba, Vice President of the Nagaland Designers’ Association.
According to the NDA, the theme “Ethno Mosaic” reflects a vibrant and multicultural concept that celebrates the diversity of Naga tribes through a fusion of ethnic elements, patterns, textiles, and colours, creating a cohesive yet eclectic visual narrative.
The association stated that the 5th edition seeks to highlight the role of Nagaland’s artisans as integral contributors to fashion innovation while promoting skill development and creative entrepreneurship within the state.
Founded in 2008, the Nagaland Designers’ Association is a collective body of creative professionals committed to reviving and promoting Naga traditions and textiles, while encouraging self-employment among youth. Officially launched by Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio in 2011, the association is registered under the Home Department (No. Home/SRC-6388 dated 31-07-2012). Its members, trained at reputed fashion institutes across India, have showcased their designs at events both within and outside the state, earning recognition and awards for their work.
