Nagaland 4 persons arrested for sexualassault of minor in Wokha

Wokha police have arrested four individuals in connection with the alleged sexual assault of a 15-year-old minor girl.
According to Wokha police, the arrests were made following a First Information Report (FIR) lodged with the Wokha Police Station on November 10.
Police have identified the arrested accused as one Chumlanthung Y. Humtsoe (26 years old); Zurenthung R. Odyuo (19 years old); Zuchanbemo Felix (29 years old), and Khyothungo Yanthan (21 years old).
As per the FIR, Zurenthung R. Odyuo, along with two accomplices, allegedly assaulted the minor on November 4.
Police said the case has been registered with Wokha Women Police Station under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
According to Additional SP & PRO Wokha police, Biren Lotha, another individual identified as one Myingthungo Humtsoe, also involved in the case was currently absconding.
Speaking to the media, Addl SP & PRO said the victim was currently under the care of the Child Welfare Committee (CWC), Wokha.
He said that the investigation was at a preliminary stage, adding that details of the incident cannot be disclosed at this time to protect the minor’s identity and avoid hindrance to the inquiry.
