Nagaland Hebolimi VDVK launched; machineries distributed

Nagaland Beekeeping and Honey Mission (NBHM), in collaboration with TRIFED, Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Government of India, launched the Hebolimi Van Dhan Vikas Kendra (VDVK) and distributed machineries and tools at Hebolimi village, Zunheboto district, on November 13.
The programme also marked the observance of Tribal Pride Day (Janjatiya Gaurav Varsh), commemorating the 150th birth anniversary of Dharti Aaba Bhagwan Birsa Munda.
Gracing the occasion as special guest, NBHM chairman Obed Quinker highlighted the significance of the VDVK scheme under TRIFED, designed to empower tribal farmers. He urged the community to embrace the “Back to the roots” philosophy, stressing the importance of reconnecting with rural livelihoods and natural wealth. He encouraged villagers to seize government initiatives to transform their socio-economic conditions and challenged Hebolimi VDVK to become a model centre in the district.
Guest of honour, chairman NSMDC, Kuputo Shohe emphasised unity and collective growth, calling on VDVK members to work sincerely and responsibly to make Hebolimi an exemplary VDVK. He lauded the efforts of NBHM and village leaders in bringing the initiative to fruition.
Former MLA Vikheho Y. Swu, expressed satisfaction at being part of the launch and aligned the initiative with the state government’s vision of “Towards Excellence.” He encouraged SHGs under the VDVK to pursue economic self-sustenance and adopt the principle of “Work and Eat.”
Deputy team leader of NBHM elaborated on the PMJVM scheme, outlining the objectives and role of VDVKs in promoting tribal livelihoods through sustainable utilisation of Minor Forest Produce (MFP).
Chairman of Hebolimi VDVK, Inaho Shohe, in his vote of thanks, expressed gratitude to NBHM and TRIFED for the support extended through toolkits and machinery, which he said would enhance livelihood opportunities in the village.
The programme began with a quote, “From forest wealth to market value—our hands shape our destiny,” and a benediction prayer by Rev. Vikiho Achumi, pastor of Hebolimi Baptist Church. The event was attended by village leaders, GBs, council authorities, and VDVK beneficiaries.
