Nagaland Kohima police nab one in hit-and-run case

Kohima police Saturday arrested one person in connection with hit-and-run incident reported earlier in the day at Lower Jail Colony, Kohima.
Police stated that the following the incident that occurred at around 11:45 am, which was widely circulated on social media, a team was immediately tasked to verify the information and initiate an investigation.
According to police, the suspected accused has been identified as one E. Ekai Konyak (27) of Angphang village under Aboi police station, Mon district.
Kohima Police said that the accused was currently residing at Orphanage Home Bypass, Kohima.
The vehicle allegedly involved in the incident, bearing registration number NL 01P 0078 (Celerio), has been seized.
Kohima police informed that the accused was apprehended following the inquiry.
Although no formal complaint was lodged by the affected family, the police stated that the case highlights its commitment to public safety and accountability on the roads.
Kohima police reiterated that reckless driving and fleeing the scene of an accident were serious offences and affirmed its zero-tolerance policy towards such acts.
Kohima police said that swift response underscored the importance of community cooperation. Therefore, police urged the citizens to remain vigilant and practise responsible driving, adding that public alertness plays a crucial role in preventing road mishaps.
