Nagaland LCSC holds annual sports meet

DIMAPUR, Nov 15 (NPN)

The Lumami Campus Sports Club (LCSC) of Nagaland University inaugurated its 12th Annual Sports Meet at the Multi-Purpose Hall, Lumami, on November 15 with an aim to promote unity, wellness, and camaraderie among the campus community.
The inaugural programme was attended by university employees and residents. Dr. Albert Khizo, Finance Officer of Nagaland University, graced the occasion as chief guest. In his address, Dr. Khizo lauded the club’s efforts in fostering inclusivity and community spirit through sports. He noted that the club’s unique role in bringing together individuals from various departments has helped strengthen bonds within the campus. He also acknowledged the support of the Sports Section for providing necessary equipment and resources. Encouraging participants to compete wholeheartedly, Dr. Khizo emphasised the importance of enjoying the games while building unity through sportsmanship. Delivering the welcome address, LCSC president and PRO of Nagaland University, Peter Ki, reflected on the club’s journey since its inception on September 18, 2012. He expressed gratitude to the founding members for their vision of creating an active and engaging campus environment through sports.
The first day of the meet featured spirited matches in men’s and women’s volleyball, football, and a penalty shoot-out. The tournament will continue till November 22. The inaugural programme also featured a special song by Bethel and a Ghazal performance by Dr. Rishikesh, Assistant Professor, Department of Law and Joint Secretary of LCSC. The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Sandeep Gupta, Associate Professor, Department of Sociology and general secretary of LCSC, followed by the oath-taking ceremony by all participating players.
