The newly constructed Church building of Borlengri Ao Baptist Arogo (BABA) was formally dedicated on Sunday by Executive Secretary of Ao Baptist Arogo Mungdang (ABAM), Rev. Temsü Jamir, in a solemn service marked by prayer, reflection, and thanksgiving.
Delivering the Word of God, Rev. Jamir underscored the spiritual condition of believers as central to the vitality of the Church. He cautioned that when the temple of God within individuals is corrupted, the physical Church suffers, lamenting the evident spiritual decline in contemporary times. “We are all the temple of God. If we don’t change our ways, the Church will continue to empty spiritually and physically,” he warned.
Rev. Jamir further emphasized that the Church is not merely a structure built by human hands, but one sanctified by divine purpose. Drawing from the Biblical account of Cain and Abel, he reminded the congregation that worship and sacrifice marked the beginning of the Church. He also warned against the dangers of materialism, stating that pursuit of wealth and fame erodes the spiritual foundation within.
He urged the Naga community to realign their lives with God’s will, cautioning that the spiritual emptiness seen in Western churches could become a reality if ignored.
Assam Legislative Assembly Deputy Speaker, Dr. Numal Momin, also addressed the gathering, sharing his personal testimony of faith and recalling his visit to the Church in 2015 prior to elections. He expressed gratitude for the prayers and support of the congregation, which he credited for his electoral success. Dr. Momin highlighted the resilience of border communities and praised the peace and stability in his constituency along the Assam-Nagaland border, noting the absence of major issues over the past nine years. Secretary of the New Church Building Construction Committee (NCBCC), Imkongyanger, presented the construction report. Convenor, NCBCC, N Asangba Walling; chairman, Borlengri Ao Tribal Council, Oyimpong; and pastor, BABA, T Apok Jamir, delivered votes of thanks, acknowledging the contributions of CSOs, Churches, and individuals towards the successful completion of the project.
The programme was chaired by Associate Pastor Women, BABA, Rev. Tianaro Jamir, with invocation by pastor, Aoyimsen Ao Baptist Church, Imty Imsong.
