The Werhu Van Dhan Vikas Kendra (VDVK) was inaugurated on November 15 at Kami Village, Phek district, along with the distribution of tools and equipment under the Pradhan Mantri Janjatiya Vikas Mission (PMJVM).
The programme was launched by Obed Quinker, chairman, Nagaland Beekeeping and Honey Mission (NBHM), who graced the occasion as special guest. In his address, Quinker stated that the core objective of NBHM is to enhance and uplift rural livelihoods through sustainable practices. He lauded the successful establishment of the VDVK unit comprising 300 beneficiaries, describing it as a testament to community collaboration and commitment.
Quinker noted that while NBHM is widely recognized for its contributions to beekeeping and honey production, it is now expanding its focus to include other minor forest produce available in the region. He assured that under the PMJVM scheme, NBHM along with district officers will provide consistent guidance and handholding support to the beneficiaries.
Er. Khuvoyi Vese presented a detailed overview of the PMJVM scheme, outlining its aims, objectives, and operational guidelines. Neikhrolo Khalo also delivered a short speech during the programme.
The welcome address was delivered by Wetezu Kupa, chairman, Kami Village Council, who expressed gratitude to the implementing agencies and encouraged villagers to make full use of the opportunity.
