Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC) has directed poultry traders to stop import of dressed broiler birds from neighbouring Assam with immediate effect.
In an order, DMC chief executive officer Thungchanbemo Tungoe noted that certain poultry traders /individual were importing dressed broiler birds from neighbouring Assam without being examined by the concern authority. DMC stated that such unregulated supply of dressed birds posed a sever risk to the health of the consumer and violation of food safety regulation. DMC has cautioned that defaulters would be penalized as per the provision of the Municipal Act.
