An upgraded Multi Skill Lab at Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS) Diphupar ‘A’ was inaugurated on Monday, marking a significant step in strengthening skill-based education in the state.
Delivering the keynote address, Abhinav Das, CSR Regional Lead of LIC Housing Finance Ltd. (LIC HFL), expressed appreciation to all dignitaries, faculty and students involved in the project. He described the initiative as a unique CSR undertaking focused on skill development and livelihood creation through a supportive ecosystem.
Reflecting on the project’s origins, Das said the concept emerged from discussions on tackling student dropouts and enhancing employability in Nagaland. “Everyone today is familiar with AI tools and skill education is becoming crucial. LIC HFL CSR is committed to leaving a meaningful footprint in the Northeast,” he stated.
He added that the project aims to bridge the gap between learning and employment, empowering youth with practical, future-ready skills. “Progress begins when people are given the right opportunities,” Das affirmed, reiterating LIC HFL’s commitment to building self-reliant communities.
Mission Director of Samagra Shiksha, L. Jamithung Lotha, termed the upgraded lab an important milestone in the state’s education system. He said the initiative aligns with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and National Curriculum Framework (NCF) 2023, promoting real-world, experiential learning. Lotha acknowledged the role of Lend A Hand India, the state’s vocational education partner, in supporting four vocational schools in Nagaland, and cited the Multi Skill Lab at TM Government School, Kohima, as an example of skilling convergence. He further appreciated the technical expertise of Lend A Hand India and the CSR support of LIC HFL in establishing world-class, hands-on facilities. “The Multi Skill Lab at GHSS Diphupar stands as a symbol of innovation and future readiness,” he said, mentioning that the facility will offer training in engineering, electronics, agriculture, food processing, energy and environmental sciences.
Lotha also acknowledged the efforts of the school principal, teachers, technical teams and students in realising the project. He encouraged students to explore, innovate and grow into responsible citizens and changemakers.
The programme included a ribbon-cutting ceremony, lab tour, student demonstrations, and an interactive session with dignitaries. The event concluded with lunch prepared by the Tourism & Hospitality vocational students of the school.
