VCs of six Mkg villages caution power deptt.

Village Councils (VC) of six villages– Chungtia, Aliba, Kinunger, Sabangya Compound, Longjongkong and Satier have cautioned the Power department to replace the damaged 500KVA transformer by August 10.
In a joint letter to the chief engineer, Power department, the six Village Council chairmen warned that if the department fail to replace the damaged transformer, the villages would resort to its own course of action for which, the concerned department would be held solely responsible for any untoward incident arising out of it.
They stated that since April, the old transformer was damaged making the lives of the villagers miserable without electricity for so many months. The VCs have requested the department to look into the mater on top priority and do the needful at the earliest.
Talking to Nagaland Post, council secretary of Chungtia village, Toshi said that the 500 KVA transformer was installed in 1970s. It was the same transformer that was supplying power to all the six villages and that it was operating beyond its capacity, he added. It was on April 10, that the transformer was damaged. However, the repaired transformer lasted for about 20 days only and since then the six villages have been experiencing total blackout for about four months now. The requirement is now a bigger capacity transformer as the old 500KVA one can no more meet the power demand.
