Puisa Kotha Hunibo? Don’tget married to your assets

In our community, we often attach deep emotion to what we own: land, gold, property, even stocks we bought with so much hope. And while valuing what we have is a good thing, getting too attached can quietly hold us back.
We all need to remember one simple principle: your assets are meant to serve you, not the other way around. Holding on just for the sake of holding on is not a financial strategy.
We’ve all seen people refuse to sell property even when that money could be put to far better use. Or hold on to gold that just sits in a locker, doing nothing. Or cling to a stock that’s clearly sinking, because “maybe it will bounce back.” And many of these choices aren’t smart or strategic, they’re emotional.
But financial decisions work best when they’re guided by clarity. Cutting your losses doesn’t make you weak. Selling is not a defeat, it’s a reset. And the best way to honour what you own is to use it in a way that helps your life grow.
This doesn’t mean disrespecting our assets. It means seeing them for what they are: tools, not trophies. Their value lies in how they help you move forward, not in how long you hold them.
We naturally treasure what we own. They’re tied to our roots. But even meaningful things can become limiting if they don’t support where we’re headed. It’s okay to rethink, re-evaluate, and choose what works for your life today.
So if a decision is logical and helps you grow, give yourself permission to take it. If an asset is sitting idle, ask how it can work harder for you. If emotion is clouding your judgment, pause and reassess.
This is also why we created Moneybar, to make conversations around money feel less like a burden and more like guidance we share with each other. All you have to do is download the app on Playstore/Appstore, and sign up.
Financial empowerment begins the moment we stop treating assets as something sacred to cling to and start treating them as partners in our journey.
Don’t just hold what you have. Make what you have work for you.
