Nagaland SBI Guwahati circle carries out CSR activities at Niathu Resort

State Bank of India (SBI) Guwahati Circle carried out a series of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives on November 20 at Niathu Resort, led by SBI Corporate Centre’s Managing Director (Corporate Banking & Subsidiaries), Ashwini Kumar Tewari. The activities included the donation of a bus to the Nagaland Institute of Medical Science and Research (NIMSR), Kohima, financial assistance of ₹5 lakh to Government Primary School, Zisunyu Village in Tseminyu District, and the distribution of bicycles to girl students under the “Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao” scheme.
During the programme, a bus was donated to the Nagaland institute of Medical Science and Research (NIMSR), Kohima. NIMSR, Director-cum-Dean Dr. Soumya Chakraborty received the symbolic key of the bus which was handed by Managing Director (Corporate Banking & Subsidiaries), State Bank of India, Corporate Centre, Ashwini Kumar Tewari, who also flagged off the vehicle.
Under SBI’s Pan India activities to promote education and improve infrastructure in rural areas, SBI extended Rs. 5 lakhs to Government Primary School, Zisunyu Village, Tseminyu District for infrastructure upgradation. The assistance was received by Primary Teacher Kenyulo Tsela on behalf of the school.
Under the Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao initiative, the bank distributed bicycles to 10 girl students of Government Middle School, Diezhephe to promote regular attendance and provide safer, easier mobility to school.
Speaking at the program, Ashwini Kumar Tewari expressed happiness at seeing young girls receive bicycles, noting that it not only improved mobility but also boost their confidence. He appreciated the work of NIMSR, calling it a much-needed institution for the state, and assured continued support from SBI as the institute expands. He also expressed hope that the upgraded facilities at the Zisunyu Primary School would enable more children to pursue education comfortably.
He also acknowledged the long-standing primary school, established in 1934, and hoped that with improved infrastructure, more children would be able to study at the school, and noted that the bank contributed in a small way to support this effort.
She highlighted that SBI has been carrying out CSR activities through its circles, and through Foundation, focusing on education, health, youth development, employment, skill development, and rural development.
Representatives from SBI including chief general manager, Guwahati Circle, Prabhas Bose, chief general manager (Associates & Subsidiaries), corporate centre, Atul Shrivastava, general manager (NW II), Guwahati Circle, Amaresh Kumar Jha, along with all other dignitaries from State Bank of India.
