3 held with meth, heroinworth Rs 41.64 cr in Mizoram

AIZAWL, NOV 21 (PTI)

Mizoram police have seized methamphetamine tablets and heroin worth Rs 41.64 crore in separate operations over the past two days, a police statement said on Friday. Three persons- two from Assam and one from Manipur- were arrested.
On Thursday night, CID (Special Branch) recovered 49.244 kg of methamphetamine tablets (YABA) from a 12-wheeler truck on Aizawl’s northeastern outskirts. The tablets, valued at Rs 39.39 crore, were allegedly transported by two residents of Hailakandi, Assam, who were arrested. In another operation on Friday, Saitual police intercepted a car heading toward Aizawl and seized 1.12 kg of heroin packed in 89 soap cases. The driver, a Manipur resident, was arrested. The heroin is valued at Rs 2.25 crore. The statement said investigations into both cases are underway.
Separately, on Thursday, the BSF and Mizoram Excise and Narcotics department seized 14.905 kg of methamphetamine tablets and 707 grams of heroin, worth over Rs 26 crore, during a joint operation on NH-6 between Seiling and Tuirial.
