The launching programme of Terogvunyu VDVK, along with the distribution of tools and machinery, was held on November 17 at Terogvunyu village in Tseminyu district. The project is being implemented by the Nagaland Beekeeping and Honey Mission (NBHM) under the PMJVM scheme.
The event was inaugurated by NBHM chairman, Obed Quinker, who in his address, noted that although the project may appear small, it has the potential to bring meaningful change. He reminded the community to value forests and fields and to use available resources wisely to improve livelihoods. He further urged members to make use of government schemes and encouraged Terogvunyu village to set an example of successful implementation.
Also highlighting the village’s unique advantage of having an apitherapy facility, he stressed that whether in beekeeping or any other field, sincere effort and commitment are essential. With proper use of resources, he said, the project could transform lives. He then called on VDVK members to treat the initiative seriously so that Terogvunyu VDVK could become one of the best.
Nzanbemo K. Lotha, who also spoke at the programme, explained that since beekeeping was a seasonal activity, NBHM has integrated other Minor Forest Produce (MFPs) along with honey to ensure year-round engagement and improve farmers’ livelihoods.
Project coordinator and team member Mhathung T. Tsopoe also highlighted the key features of the PMJVM scheme.
