The 12th Lumami Campus Sports Club (LCSC) Tournament concluded on November 22 at Nagaland University, Lumami, after eight days of sporting events that ran from November 15 to 22. The tournament brought together employees, staff and players in a vibrant celebration of unity, talent and collaboration.
The tournament concluded with honors awarded to outstanding performers. Hukheto and Himatoli were declared Players of the Tournament in the men’s and women’s categories respectively. Red House emerged as the Champion Team, receiving the trophy from the chief guest.
Delivering the valedictory address, Deputy Director of Sports, Nagaland University, Dr. Harish Tiwari, congratulated the LCSC executive committee for successfully organizing the event. He emphasized the importance of continuing such initiatives to promote fitness and encouraged parents to motivate children to participate in sports from a young age. He noted that early involvement helps identify potential and guide children towards the right path. Dr. Tiwari also stressed the need to provide platforms and support for youngsters to pursue sporting ambitions and build careers in athletics, expressing confidence that LCSC would continue nurturing enthusiasm and strengthening sporting culture.
In his welcome address, general secretary of LCSC, Dr. Sandeep Gupta, extended appreciation to the chief guest, executives, players and all members involved in the week-long event. He reflected on the club’s founding purpose of bringing people from diverse backgrounds closer through sports, and credited collective effort for the successful completion of the tournament.
The valedictory session was chaired by vice-president of LCSC, Dr. Rumi Dhar, and featured a special number by Bethel, followed by a cultural extravaganza. The programme also included a prize distribution ceremony and a lottery draw.
In his vote of thanks, president of LCSC, Peter Ki, expressed gratitude to Nagaland University Vice-Chancellor Prof. J.K. Patnaik, chief patron of LCSC, registrar Dr. Abemo, patron, and donors including Pro Vice-Chancellor, Medziphema Campus, NU, Prof. Dipak Sinha, Department of Chemistry NU, Prof. Upasana Bora, as well as supporters such as Ghoupu Kinimi, Hutton Kinimi, photographer Kimbo, reporter Shiken and others.
