Mizoram’s community bonds reflect constitutional fraternity: Governor
Mizoram Governor Vijay Kumar Singh on Wednesday said the state’s strong community bonds, mutual trust and peaceful coexistence embody the constitutional principle of fraternity.
Addressing a Constitution Day (Samvidhan Diwas) programme here, which marks the adoption of the Constitution, Singh described the document as “the soul of democracy” and the judiciary as its guardian.
He said the Constitution is a visionary document that continues to guide India towards a brighter future, and the Aizawl bench of Gauhati High Court bears an important responsibility in upholding justice and protecting the rights of the people of Mizoram under its framework.
The governor also praised the community bond and the tradition of living in harmony among people of the state.
“Mizoram’s strong community bonds, mutual trust, and tradition of living in harmony perfectly reflect the constitutional principle of fraternity mentioned in the Preamble,” he said.
Praising the legacy of the Constituent Assembly, Singh said it had crafted a living Constitution capable of evolving with time.
The Assembly had successfully enshrined the noble ideals of justice, liberty, equality, and fraternity for all citizens while keeping the nation’s long-term progress in view, he said. The governor also said the true power of the Constitution lies in citizens being aware of their rights and duties.
He called upon legal professionals to deliver justice impartially, safeguard individual freedoms without disturbing national security, educate the younger generation about the Constitution’s value, promote inclusivity and strive tirelessly to preserve harmony and fraternity.
Gauhati High Court judges Justice Marli Vankung and Justice Kaushik Goswami also addressed the event.
Arunachal Guv, CM call for renewed commitment to constitutional values

Arunachal Pradesh Governor Lt Gen K T Parnaik (Retd) and Chief Minister Pema Khandu on Wednesday urged citizens to uphold constitutional values and strengthen national unity as the country observed Constitution Day, commemorating the adoption of the Indian Constitution.
The governor, in his message, called upon the people of the state to uphold the sanctity of the Constitution and honour the fundamental duties.
Parnaik urged citizens to reaffirm their commitment to building a just, harmonious and progressive society rooted in constitutional principles.
Highlighting the significance of the day, the governor said Constitution Day serves as a solemn reminder of the vision, wisdom and labour that shaped modern India and deepens the nation’s appreciation for its chief architect, B R Ambedkar.
He noted that the Constitution, which came into force on January 26, 1950, ushered in a new era by declaring India a sovereign, democratic republic committed to justice, equality, liberty and fraternity for all.
Parnaik further emphasised Ambedkar’s pivotal role as chairman of the drafting committee, noting that he devoted his life to creating a constitutional framework that safeguarded the rights and dignity of every citizen, especially the socially and economically marginalised. “His legacy as a jurist and champion of equality continues to inspire the nation,” the governor added.
Khandu, in his message, saluted the vision of B R Ambedkar and the members of the Constituent Assembly, stating that the Constitution continues to serve as the cornerstone of India’s democratic ethos.
“Today we salute the vision of B R Ambedkar and the members of the Constituent Assembly who gave India a constitution founded on justice, liberty, equality and fraternity. Let us live these values every day and build a stronger, united and self-reliant Bharat,” he said.
Observed annually on November 26, Constitution Day commemorates the adoption of the Indian Constitution in 1949.
The day honours the work of the Constituent Assembly and reinforces the importance of the fundamental rights, duties and values that guide the nation. It is an occasion for citizens, institutions and governments across India to reaffirm their commitment to constitutional ideals and democratic responsibilities.
Uphold ideals of Constitution to make society stronger: Sikkim CM

Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang on Wednesday urged people to uphold the ideals of the Constitution in daily life to make the society stronger and more inclusive.
On the occasion of Constitution Day, Tamang led the reading of the Preamble at a function held at Manan Kendra.
“I urge every citizen, especially our youth, to uphold the ideals of the Constitution in daily life and contribute to a stronger, more inclusive society,” he said. “Let us renew our resolve to follow the vision of Dr BR Ambedkar and the makers of our Constitution as we work together for the progress of our state and nation,” he said.
Tamang said the Constitution guides the people with the values of justice, liberty, equality, and fraternity.
Manipur Governor calls on people of state to embrace constitutional duties

Manipur Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla on Wednesday called on the citizens of the state to embrace their constitutional duties, promote unity, reject violence, and protect the dignity and rights of every community in the state.
Participating in a function of Constitution Day (Samvidhan Diwas), Bhalla reflected on the remarkable journey of the Constitution’s framing and the visionary leadership of the members of the erstwhile Constituent Assembly. Bhalla highlighted “the role of B R Ambedkar and other eminent members whose scholarship, clarity of thought, and commitment to democratic ideals shaped one of the world’s most resilient constitutional frameworks.”
The governor highlighted that the resilience of the people of Manipur and their faith in democratic processes continue to reaffirm the spirit of the Constitution.
“From vibrant civil society to youth-led initiatives in education, sports, arts, and entrepreneurship, Manipur demonstrates how constitutional ideals can guide a progressive and harmonious future”, Bhalla said. He also urged, “The people to strengthen democratic values, promote unity, and carry forward the ideals envisioned by the framers of the Constitution and called upon citizens of Manipur to embrace their constitutional duties, promote unity, reject violence, and protect the dignity and rights of every community in the state.”
As part of the ceremony, the governor led the gathering in reading the Preamble of the Constitution, reaffirming the timeless values of justice, liberty, equality, and fraternity that form the backbone of the nation.
