Minister for PHED and Cooperation, Jacob Zhimomi, on Friday underscored the indispensable role of the Gaon Burah (GB) institution, describing it as a vital bridge between the government and the public.
Speaking as the special guest at the Golden Jubilee celebration of Aghunaqa Kükami Kuqhakulu (Aghunaqa Area GBs Association) in Niuland district, Jacob said the relevance of GBs remained crucial even as Naga society undergoes rapid transformation. He urged GBs to adapt to changing times while remaining firmly rooted in tradition and upholding the values laid down by pioneers.
Calling the jubilee an occasion for “gratitude and retrospection,” the minister encouraged GBs to stay steadfast in their commitment to public welfare and service, reminding them to place the interests of the people above all else.
With Aghunaqa Area encompassing 39 villages, Jacob noted that the region was witnessing rapid development, which he credited to the collective cooperation of the people. He expressed confidence that Aghunaqa would continue to see steady and meaningful progress in the years ahead.
The jubilee celebration, held with much reverence and community spirit, was graced by Niuland deputy commissioner Sarah, who formally unveiled the Jubilee Souvenir. Rev. Dr. Phughoto Sema, ES WSBAK, offered the dedicatory prayer for the monolith, while Jacob unveiled the Golden Jubilee Monolith to mark the milestone event.
