The Department of Art and Culture has announced that the International Hornbill Festival–Mon Edition 2025 will be held from December 8 to 10 at the Konyak Heritage Complex, Mon headquarters.
The event is being organised by the Department of Underdeveloped Areas (DUDA), Government of Nagaland, while the Department of Art and Culture is preparing a cultural showcase under the theme “Cultural Connect.”
Deputy Director of Art and Culture and Officer-in-Charge of the Mon edition, Teisovikuolie Therie, said that 15 cultural troupes will participate in what he described as a “historic event.” Daily cultural performances will feature presentations from the ten ranges of the Konyak tribe, along with additional performances by the Ao, Phom and Tenyimia troupes based in Mon.
Mon district, often referred to as the “Land of the Angh,” holds strategic significance as it shares international borders and adjoins the states of Assam and Arunachal Pradesh. Therie noted that the district’s unique cultural and geographical importance is expected to draw a large number of visitors.
The Department of Art and Culture will also exhibit its book publications and host an Artists’ Corner to promote and encourage local artists during the festival.
