Maharashtra booked their place in the final of the Dr. Talimeren Ao Junior Girls’ National Football Championship 2025–26 (Tier 2) with a composed 2–0 victory over Punjab in Semi-Final 2 at Chümoukedima Football Stadium on Saturday.
The match, played under vibrant support and competitive intensity, showcased strong tactical execution from both sides, but Maharashtra’s clinical finishing proved decisive. The encounter was graced by Megolhou Dolie, additional director, Youth Resources & Sports, as match patron.
The first half unfolded evenly, with Punjab holding 48% possession against Maharashtra’s 52%. Both sides registered seven shots on target, but resolute defending and crucial saves from both goalkeepers ensured the scoreline remained goalless at halftime.

As Punjab pressed forward in search of an equaliser, Maharashtra struck again in the 81st minute. Aarna (Jersey No. 11) rose to head home, doubling the lead and effectively sealing the contest. Both teams ended with one yellow card each.
With the win, Maharashtra advanced to the final scheduled for December 11, where they will face the winners of Semi-Final 1. The remaining fixtures in Group A and Group C will determine Maharashtra’s opponent in the championship finale.
