Nagaland’s sovereignty non-negotiable: NNC

DIMAPUR, NOV 30 (NPN)

The Naga National Council (NNC) on Sunday issued a detailed statement reaffirming Nagaland’s status as a sovereign country and condemning the ongoing occupation by India and Myanmar.
NNC clarified that Nagas were never part of India or Burma, and the British intrusion from 1832 to 1947 was limited and never resulted in formal subjugation. The Council noted that Nagas unilaterally declared independence on August 14, 1947, a day before India, and ratified it through a voluntary plebiscite in 1951 with a 99.9% mandate.
