The Congress unit of 30 Alongtaki Assembly Constituency has alleged discrepancies, delays and missing components across several government-sanctioned development projects in the constituency. Addressing media persons Saturday night, ACCC general secretary (Adm), 30 Alongtaki, Tinuakum, said the party was “not against anyone” but sought accountability “to maintain check and balance.”
He acknowledged the developmental works initiated by the government and the MLA, but said multiple inconsistencies had surfaced between sanction records and ground-level implementation. “Some works are unfinished, some ongoing and some not yet started despite work orders. We want clarity,” he said.
Medical Rest House: According to Congress, the major concern was related to a Medical Rest House at Merangmen block sanctioned under Tribal Affairs (Article 275(1)) for an amount of Rs.200 lakh in 2020–21. The party said that the work was allotted to M/S Zenith Enterprise.
Congress said a verification team found PHC upgrade works underway but no structure resembling the Rest House, adding that villagers were also reportedly unaware of such a project.
Medical Hospital at Moayimti: The Congress claimed that construction of Medical Hospital at Moayimti- also executed by M/S Zenith Enterprise- had shown early progress but came to an abrupt halt and had remained inactive for almost a year. With the 24-month completion period over, the unit sought clarity on whether an extension or revised timeline had been issued.
Community Hall at Lirmen: A planned community hall at Lirmen, sanctioned under Article 275(1) in 2022-23 for Rs.150 lakh, has reportedly shown no activity, the Congress claimed. The party noted that similar halls at Medemyin and Yachang B had been completed, while villagers in Lirmen questioned whether the project had been shifted elsewhere.
Longchem-Saring road and bridge: The upgradation of the Longchem-Saring road (2022–23) with a 24-month deadline from December 22, 2022, remained uncertain. While the bridge under the project was reportedly completed, the Congress said that there was no visible progress on the road, describing the route as the constituency’s “lifeline”.
The party claimed that villagers had requested basic blacktopping, retaining walls and consistent maintenance rather than temporary patchworks. They noted that roadwork across the border in Assam was progressing steadily while the Nagaland side continued to lag behind.
Multipurpose Hall at Lakhuni: The Congress claimed that the progress on the Rs.100 lakh Multipurpose Hall at Lakhuni was described as “half-built”, with no indication of further work. The unit questioned whether the project matched its DPR specifications.
Four ambulances unaccounted: Congress further alleged that out of four ambulances that were sanctioned in 2020-21 under SCA-TSS and LADP COVID-19 schemes, only two were physically traced. It sought clarification on the locations and deployment of all four, given the area’s transport challenges.
LADP 2022-23 Footsteps at Longchem: The unit said the LADP-funded eight footsteps at Longchem- officially listed as completed- were not found at the site. An RTI revealed that a completion certificate had been issued despite lack of physical evidence. Congress claimed actual construction reportedly began only last month.
Citing a case where a patient reportedly died when an ambulance got stuck along a damaged stretch, the ACCC said residents had video evidence of the incident.
The party added that an earlier RTI on the Longchem-Saring bridge showed funds had been sanctioned, after which the department executed the repair directly and issued the completion certificate through the village council. While the bridge stands completed, the Congress claimed that road upgradation “has not happened”.
Thr party said that during the 2025 Japukong Kaketshir Mungdang conference, visiting delegates reportedly struggled due to the road’s poor condition, with buses requiring assistance and some delegates walking.
Despite Longchem being a declared town with over 1,600 residents and about 7,000–8,000 people depending on the route, the Congress said lack of proper road connectivity remained the constituency’s biggest hurdle. The party reiterated its demand for transparency, accountability and basic road maintenance.
