Nagaland: T.R Zeliang releases 2nd edition of Naga Alphameric

The second edition of Naga Alphameric was released on November by Deputy CM T.R Zeliang in presence the Advisory Board.
A press release by the Advisory Board Naga Alphameric, Peren, stated that the program was chaired by Rev. Izieteilung Terieng Member. Advisory Board, who in his opening remark, stated that the Naga Alphameric was authored by Haisoyi Ndang more than 20 years back.
He further revealed that due to certain circumstances the project could not be carried forward. However, realising the indispensable need of their Alphabetic to fully suit the load accent, an Advisory Board has been set up in 2025 to take the project forward.
Meanwhile, Julian Raxam from Deakin University Australia who noticed that the project was lying dormant, communicated with the author and reignited the project. Thus, the project awakened from a long slumber.
While releasing the second edition of Naga Alphameric, Dy. CM T.R Zeliang appreciated and thanked the author and Advisory Board for coming up with such innovation. He said that such work is possible only when some individuals give overriding effort because it is very intricate and complex.
He further said that it requires the intervention and involvement of intellectuals to promote and educate the mass. He shared his concern that it needs to begin from lower class so that the learning process will be effective and widely publicized.
The author also presented a brief background of the Naga Alphameric that he derived the Alphameric from various Naga Cultural items so that the Alphameric have deep connection with the Naga Culture.
He further said that the Naga Alphameric is unique because of its 3-dimensional characteristic which enables to fully stress the typical accent of the Naga community dialect. The Deakin University Australia has initiated to unicode Naga Alphameric to make it an internationally accepted alphabet.
