Nagaland: Temsumongba Ozukum, Imnatiba Longkumer release music video ‘Sempet’

Correspondent

A new music video titled Sempet, a celebration of individual talent and the gifts people carry— in Ao language has been released on YouTube, featuring Temsumongba Ozukum, Imnatiba Longkumer and several collaborating artistes. The music video brings together two artistes known for their distinct musical journeys.
Sempet (meaning talent or gift) conveys the message that every individual is born with unique abilities, which should not be constrained by pride or fear. The artistes said the song seeks to remind listeners to appreciate their innate gifts and use them meaningfully.
Temsumongba Ozukum, a singer, songwriter and composer from Dimapur, has been active in the local music circuit for several years. He has collaborated widely across genres and regularly features emerging artistes in his projects, contributing, in his own way, to the growth of the independent music scene in Nagaland.
Imnatiba Longkumer, a Kohima-based musician who primarily explores pop–indie styles, reportedly took up the collaboration as his first major venture into Ao-language music. He said the project allowed him to experiment with new cultural and sonic elements.
The production was handled by Ao Synthwave and recorded at Element Indie Studio, bringing together a blend of contemporary indie soundscapes with the linguistic and cultural flavour of Ao music.
With its message-driven lyrics, collaborative spirit and modern audio–visual approach, Sempet adds to the growing list of home-grown indie music emerging from Nagaland’s evolving creative landscape.
