Nagaland: Blowing of horn, war cry contest held

Tribal Vision, on Thursday, organised the Indigenous Games Competition, featuring the timeless blowing of the Horn contest, sponsored by the Department of Youth Resources and Sports at the 26th International Hornbill Festival which is in full swing at the Naga Heritage Village, celebrating Nagaland’s vibrant culture through performances, traditions, and contests from December 1–10
This year’s horn-blowing and yelling/ war cry competition contest beautifully highlighted skill across generations.
The oldest participant in the horn blowing festival was 76-year-old Lhuvepra Venyo of the Chakhesang tribe, who gave an outstanding performance to take first place with 91 points.
Visosieto Vüprü of the Angami tribe followed closely, securing second position with 90.5 points. Showcasing impressive talent at just 13 years old, Ketwapeusing Haikam of the Zeliang tribe earned third place with 71 points.
Winners Yelling/ war cry competition are: Qhegholi Chishi from Sumi Morung (only female participant).
1st Runner up from Tikhir Morung :Tsusuthong, 2nd Runner up from chakhesang Morung: Tavesuh Tetseo
The Hornbill Festival will continue through the week with more cultural showcases, traditional sports, and community activities.
