Nagaland: Eastern Konyak CSOs hold consultative meeting at Chen Yanching village

DIMAPUR

The Eastern Konyak Union organised a public consultative meeting from November 26 to 29 at Chen Yanching village, under the theme “Strengthening and Unity for Peaceful Co-Existence in Times of Turmoil”, initiated by K. Akham Honwang, general secretary of the union.
The gathering brought together civil society members, village elders, student unions, and community leaders to discuss issues affecting the Eastern Konyak public, including harassment and insecurity due to militant activities. The participants emphasised that civilians should not be targeted and appealed to Indian and Myanmar authorities to distinguish between insurgents and innocent villagers.
The meeting also addressed the lack of development and support from both government and Naga political bodies, urging for peaceful coexistence and development initiatives in the region. Eastern Konyak youths sponsored the event voluntarily, while several individuals, including Nokpai, Amen, C. Aikha Sawang, A. Chenpo, N. Khamyeh, and Jeilei, contributed financially and physically.
The Eastern Konyak public appealed to all Naga CSOs and political leaders to support peace, safeguard civilian life, and promote development in the area. The Union thanked border villages and security personnel for their support and called for continued humanitarian assistance.
