Nagaland: Hornbill Festival day-5 celebrates tribal legacy

DIMAPUR, DEC 5 (NPN)

The fifth day of the 26th Hornbill Festival at Kisama on Friday featured a vibrant showcase of Naga cultural heritage, hosted by advisor for Minority Affairs and Sericulture, Imkongmar.
Special guests included DG Assam Rifles Lt. Gen. Vikas Lakhera, and director NFSSA & BP, Ministry of Food & Public Distribution, Suneel Sachdeva.
Cultural troupes from various tribes presented their traditional dances, songs and rituals reflecting seasonal activities, ancestral practices, village traditions and post-harvest celebrations.
The Khiamniungan troupe performed Khaozaosie Hok-Ah-Tsui, while the Chang troupe showcased a folk dance. The Kachari troupe presented Bwisagu, marking their New Year. Chakhesang performers depicted Kharuso Su and Khuswo Li, and the Angami troupe showcased Omapfu and Miro Teshu. The Garo troupe performed Dim Dim Chong.
The Ao troupe presented Nuknurar Yar and the Yimkhiung troupe performed Tanji Nüt Khün. The Zeliang troupe showcased Chareng Lin, while the Tikhir troupe performed Mulong Lai Khin and Sangpin Yan. Sumi performers presented Thipugho Gha, a ritual invoking rain during drought.
The Sangtam troupe performed Akoh Khi while the Phom troupe showcased Sham Lipo and Leipo Mangh Heungpo. The Pochury troupe performed Aho Süro Wanü, and Rengma performers presented Phünsen Lyu. The Lotha troupe showcased Chume Mhee Chum Chum, followed by the Kuki troupe’s Lamkol Lam. The Konyak troupe concluded with Eak Me Gon-Bih, a post-harvest children’s game.
