Nagaland: 3rd Kohima Inter-Club T20 Cricket tourney kicks off

DIMAPUR, Dec 8 (NPN)

The Kohima District Cricket Association (KDCA) 3rd Inter-Club T20 Cricket Tournament 2025 officially commenced on Monday at the NCA Grounds, Sovima, promising four days of competitive cricket from December 8 to 11. Eight clubs from across Kohima district are vying for the coveted title, with defending champions Elite Cricket Club aiming for a third consecutive victory.
At the Sovima Cricket Ground, the opening match witnessed Kohima Hornbills defeated P. Khel Eagles by 89 runs. Batting first, the Hornbills posted 155/9 in 20 overs, powered by Anga Shuya’s explosive 71 runs off 34 balls. Despite Keneisezo Sote’s four-wicket haul for the Eagles, the chase faltered as they were bowled out for 66 in 14.4 overs. Henry Kent starred with the ball, claiming four wickets, while Anga Shuya was named Man of the Match.
The second match saw Elite Cricket Club continue their dominance, defeating T. Khel Knights by nine wickets. The Knights, batting first, managed 103 runs before being bowled out. Kepeo Solo top-scored with 41 runs, while Elite’s Kelhousielie and Imomemba picked three wickets each. Chasing 104, Elite CC cruised to victory in just 9.3 overs, led by Imomemba’s 48 runs and Tapitu’s quickfire 33. Imomemba was declared Man of the Match.
At the GNR Ground, Tribal Legends overcame Dapfhütsumia Cricket Club in a low-scoring contest. Dapfhütsumia were bowled out for 64 in 12 overs, with Mengu Sachü contributing 18 runs. Tribal Legends chased the modest target with difficulty, reaching 65/7 in 13 overs. Limhathu scored 25 runs, while Mhajan’s five-wicket haul earned him the Man of the Match award.
In the final match of the day, Brotherhood Team defeated Greyhounds by 23 runs in a reduced 16-over game. Batting first, Brotherhood posted 115/4, anchored by opener Viketho Kechü’s 62 runs. Greyhounds, in reply, managed 92/9, with Keviselhou Sekhose and Peter sharing seven wickets between them. Viketho was named Man of the Match for his match-winning innings.
The tournament continues at Sovima and GNR Grounds, with teams battling for supremacy and the chance to dethrone Elite Cricket Club, the reigning champions of Kohima cricket.
