Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), North Eastern Council (NEC) released a total of Rs. 4,78,27,552 during November 2025 for Nagaland for various development programmes, supporting heritage and cultural centres, youth and sports infrastructure, and initiatives aimed at preserving indigenous traditions, while promoting tourism and local enterprise.
Providing an update on the status of project sanction, implementation and other related matters for each state of the north east for the month of November, the orth Eastern Council said a total amount of Rs. 56,22,37,739 was released for funding projects across all 8 North Eastern States as well as for supporting various cultural festivals, seminars, researches, etc. in the North Eastern Region.
NEC affirmed its continuous commitment to strengthening developmental initiatives in the North East through infrastructure development, livelihood enhancement, cultural promotion, research, and innovations.
NEC’s support of projects spans critical sectors such as infrastructure, agriculture and allied activities, tourism, culture and heritage, education, spoils, skill development, livelihood promotion, and innovation. NEC also said it was committed to timely execution of project & timely release of project funds and work hand in hand with the state government.
Completed project(s) during Nov 2025: The project titled “Rain Water Reservoir for Fire Safety and Skill Training Centre, Nagaland”, sanctioned on March 9, 2023 at a cost of Rs. 381.795 lakhs was completed in November, 2025.
The project would enhance fire-safety infrastructure and disaster-response capabilities, particularly in Nagaland’s inter-state border areas.
It provides for the construction of rainwater-harvesting reservoirs at key locations in Dimapur (Assam border) and Khuzama (Manipur border) to ensure reliable water sources for fire-fighting operations.
The project also includes the development of essential facilities at the Skill Training Centre, Chiechama, comprising residential quarters, barracks, kitchens, classrooms, a drill shed, office space, and a playground.
The Centre would offer structured training programmes to equip educated unemployed youth with professional fire-safety skills, creating employment opportunities in both government and private sectors.
Additional water reservoirs at major fire stations in Dimapur Central, Dimapur West, Khuzama, and Chiechama would further strengthen emergency preparedness, livened the high incidence of fire-related disasters and Nagaland Fire & Emergency Service’s frequent assistance to neighbouring states. This infrastructure is both timely and necessary.
Bamboo-based craft concentration centre: Established at Sovima Village, Dimapur, at a cost of Rs. 4.48 crore, Bamboo-based craft concentration centre serves as a comprehensive facility for bamboo artisans. It features a Craft Eco-Museum for preserving traditional crafts, a craft design lab for innovation, and facilities for natural dyeing and weaving.
The project has significantly contributed to revitalizing traditional crafts in the North East Region by providing artisans with a modern platform to re-engage with their skills and enhance their livelihoods. It promotes employment generation and skill development too.
In addition to state-specific releases, the NEC also released a total amount of Rs. 14,89,90,034 to various Central Agencies & Cultural bodies in November for supporting various Cultural Events, Seminars on Livelihood, Science & Technology, Academic Workshops, etc. Events during November includes Purvottar Hindi Samagam, Lamka Youth Summit, North East Riders’ Meet, Workshops on climate sustainability, Multilingual Dictionary Development, A1 and ML applications, and Sectoral conclaves under Viksit Bharat 2047, along with promotional events organized by NERAMAC.
