As part of the ongoing 26th Hornbill Festival 2025, the Hornbill Music Festival Extension was held on December 9 at Yanchan Resort in the Banka area of Wokha. Organised by TAFMA Nagaland through its district unit, TAFMA Wokha, the event brought together 15 artistes, offering a platform for both established and emerging musicians from the district.
The programme was graced by PRO to the Deputy Chief Minister (Home & Border Affairs), C.Hachio Patton, who attended as the guest of honour. Also present were PS to the advisor to the Chief Minister, Mhonchan Tungoe, and president of the Lotha Students’ Union, Lironthung Kithan.
In his address, Patton lauded the state government for extending the Hornbill Music Festival to Wokha, noting that not everyone can travel to the main venue at Kisama. He said the extension has made the festival more accessible for artistes and music enthusiasts and expressed hope that such platforms would enable local talents to reach bigger stages. He encouraged young performers to keep honing their craft and highlighted the importance of district-level cultural events in fostering creativity.
The festival lineup featured popular local bands Galaxies Band and November Band, along with performers such as Nchumbemo Patton, Nzanthung Kithan (vocalist, AU), Lobeno Tungoe, Emily, Lirhoni Z. Odyuo, Zayio Tungoe, Lochumlo Kikon and Stephen Tungoe.
